What's Fresher than Fresh?

Fresher Than Fresh Snow Cones needs your help. For those of you who don't know, Fresher Than Fresh (FTF) is a local purveyor of snow cones that sets up shop Sundays at the corner of 17th & Summit during these warm summer months. To put it in their own words:
We are Kansas City's 1st all natural snow cone stand on wheels! Our mission is to please modern tastebuds that are looking for the fun and refreshment without all the artificial stuff.

Our snow cone syrups are made from 100% natural ingredients without ANY artificial colors or flavors.
We use as many organic and local ingredients as possible to ensure that our products truly are fresher than fresh.
After a successful first summer in 2009, FTF is looking to build on the business by further renovating the Shasta trailer that is the base of operations, and possibly expand the fleet to serve more customers/areas of the metro. If you're interested in helping them fulfill those dreams, you should check out the FTF Kickstarter page where you can pledge as little as a dollar or more. FTF has setup different levels of contribution which come with different gifts of appreciation. Your pledge only becomes a reality when the goal amount of $6,300 is reached. FTF is currently just over half way with 20 days left, so anything helps.

Personally, the $500 donation prize of a "Daredevil Special named after you" tempts me everyday. The Daredevil special being a more off-the-wall flavor that nets you a $1 discount when you order a normal snow cone. If I did it, I'd like it to be a marriage of hot dog, chipotle pepper and pumpkin. They could call it the Chimpotle or the Hairy Blumpkin.

Duck Funkin Donuts

It's not a Tweetup, a meetup or anything of the sort. It is a chance to help out a nice local business, John's Space Age Donuts (8120 Floyd in OP, just off of Metcalf by Villa Capri and behind Winsteads) as they begin their fight against the behemoth of the donut world opening up down the street. Show up at John's tomorrow (Wednesday, May 19) and buy a dozen donuts. You may even see the sexy Meesha, the unsexy Chimpotle or the 52 Donuts lady. You may even see me, but you'll probably never know it.

If you don't  live in the neighborhood or pass through the neighborhood, visit your local donut store tomorrow, the behemoth is on the way.

Unfortunately I Do Shit Like This: TGI Friday's Buffalo Cheddar Dip

This is kind of embarassing and just the kind of thing all of the hummus people were hoping I would admit to. I didn't buy the TGI Friday's Buffalo Cheddar Dip and when I first saw it at a little get together I imagined it would be horrible. I thought up jokes to tell about it. But my cheese dip loving self just couldn't resist giving it a try. It was good. I took another bite. It had a nice little spicy kick. I then made a plate of the weird orange looking pudding consistency dip with some chips. I ate it all and craved some more. But, I stopped myself from getting more. It was hard to do.

A couple of days later I was at Super Target and noticed the TGI Friday's branded stuff in the freezer section. I'm not going to lie, I started looking for the buffalo cheddar dip. I didn't find it. I wish I could say my search stopped there, but it didn't. I've been to other stores and I still haven't found it. I'd probably rather not find it. But I do want it. TGI Friday's Buffalo Cheddar Dip, apparently, I do shit like this.

Mochi-Yeah!

Leawood purveyor of fine frozen yogurt, Mochi-Yo, has recently celebrated a year of being in business. I made it out to their grand opening in April 2009 to take up their offer of a free small cup and have been a fan since. That day I signed up for the mailing list, and last night I received their first ever newsletter which invited customers out again this Sunday, May 9, for a free small cup w/ toppings. I'll definitely be rolling through with the family for a nice Mother's Day treat.

Mochi-Yo is located in the One Nineteen Shipping Center at 4425 W 119th St, Leawood, KS 66209. They serve a tart, frozen yogurt with original & green tea flavors being featured continuously with two other rotating flavors. Mochi is a topping of Japanese origin you can read about here.
