Three Little Pigs...in my belly

I have a couple of moments in my life where I will always remember where I was when it happened. When the space shuttle exploded in '86 I was on the rings in gym class executing an iron cross, Coach came out of his office and told the class about the tragedy (I've never done another iron cross out of respect for the astronauts and the fact that I don't weigh 68 pounds anymore). Of course, on 9/11 I was sleeping in a little and heard it on the sports radio show after the second plane hit. Those, of course, were tragedies, but the newest lifetime memory was a very happy occasion, I was sitting on my couch drinking a Bully Porter and watching “No Reservations” (ironically my wife was watching the movie “No Reservations” when I got home from work) when I saw the most amazing sandwich I've ever seen in my life.

For those that didn't see the episode yet, the Three Little Pigs sandwich contains a breaded and fried pork tenderloin topped with smoked ham and bacon. As if that isn't enough it's covered in melted Gruyère cheese and topped with 2 fried eggs, sunny side up. All of this was served on a brioche bun that looked hearty enough to handle the weight and served with some delicious looking fries. This sandwich makes the bacon explosion look like some sort of gimmick.

I call upon restaurateurs in Kansas City to quickly copy this sandwich and put it on your menu. I will come and eat it. In the meantime, I may have to make a drive up to the Silver Palm restaurant in Chicago and get my fill of the Three Little Pigs.

I am still in awe from the show, er, the sandwich! I am willing to leave the warm weather in SC just to go get this magical creation!

That sandwich was insane. Even if I still ate meat, that would have been too much.

The Gaf in brookside has pretty much the same thing. It's called the Irish Gut Bomb. Chicken Fried pork, Fried Egg, Bacon, Onion Ring, BBQ sauce, and some meat (can't remember what).

It's great.

I loved it when Bourdain said, "I'm an egg slut." in reference to topping sandwiches with fried eggs. I think we should all try to make the sandwich ourselves at home and report back. I wonder what kind of condiments they used...?

Probably best to just make it at home since the Silver Palm does not have this sandwich on it's menu. If you go there and ask for it, as I did, you are told that it is not available. I suspect the bartender who created it is claimimg some sort of rights and the owner is scared to make the sandwich for fear of a law suit. Litigious Americans!

It is amazing and I'm sitting here, almost 1,000 miles away from where I can get one and pining for it. The sriracha they put out with it was the topper.

I just recently got back from Chi-town (Lollapalooza), and I had the "3 Little Pigs"... It was as close to food nirvana as I have gotten. Mine too had an onion ring on it, but instead of two eggs, there was one, and cheddar instead of guyerre (sp). I topped it off with a Jameson rocks, perfect!

When Bourdain visited Uruguay, he tried a local sandwich called Chivito and declared IT to be the best sandwich of the world... I would love to try them both to make up my own mind!

Made this sandwich at work awhile ago. The guys loved it (although we didn't need dinner that night!!) The only twist was that we added chipotle mayo to the bun. Awsome sandwich!!
